10 HONEYWELL ECLIPSE 5145

Pros
Uses the same user-replaceable cables and power supplies as Voyager and Orbit. Has compact form factor perfect for retail applications

Cons
Offers reduced scan rate, depth of field and light immunity.

Honeywell Eclipse 5145 is a single-line hand-held laser scanner and laser-based alternative to CCD scanners offered at cost of about Rs.3890 with a warranty of about 3 year factory warranty. The CodeGate technology which is ideal for menu scanning applications is used for easily targeting the desired bar code and completing data transmission by simply pressing button. The CodeSense technology which is unique feature employed in the absence of infrared object detection is used for automatically switching from pulse mode to continuous beaming mode when a bar code is detected. It provides you a pulsing laser line for bar code detection because of codegate technology. It requires an input voltage of about 5 VDC ± 0.25 V and operating power of about  675 mW (125 mA @ 5 V).

The Eclipse 5145 with a high end feature set has a longer working range and a wider scan field than a typical CCD. The width of scan line increases as scanner moves away from bar codes.  It provides an entry-level laser scanning solution ideal for organizations with limited barcode scanning needs. It can read standard 1D and GS1 DataBar symbologies with a single scan line pattern at scan speed of about 72 scan lines per second and scan angle horizontal of about 50°.  The host system interfaces supported by eclipse 5145 are USB, RS232, Keyboard Wedge, IBM 468xx (RS485).

Merits

  • Since it is OPOS and JPOS system compatible, it is easily adaptable to any end-user system environment.
  • Due to the Flash ROM used in eclipse 5145, the firmware can be updated from any PC via MetroSet2 software provided by Honeywell.
  • Uses the same user-replaceable cables and power supplies as Voyager and Orbit.
  • Can be used in wide variety of application not excluding retail applications.
  • Compact form factor perfect for retail applications.
