Design and Features

Form 2 is a most advanced desktop 3D printer designed and developed by form labs and uses stereo lithography technology instead of famous FDM (fused deposition modeling) technology. Most of the manual task like refilling tank, print orientation, support alignment, etc. are automated, such that the print job is ensured to have higher precision. The print file extensions supported by form 2 are STL and OBJ. The galvanometers are built in custom to print amazing larger models with eye-catching details and the laser sharp prints renders extremely fine surface finish. The slide peel mechanism ensures minimal wear on the resin tank while printing large prototypes. The resin wiper helps to avoid print disruption caused due to any particulate formation, and the heated tank ensures the maintenance of appropriate heat needed for optimal print.

The automation process removes your task of checking the resin fulfillment, and you can also track the amount of resin supplied so far in the dashboard screen. The build volume offered in form 2 is sufficient enough i.e. 145 X 145 X 175 mm to build larger models. The spot size of laser that is been exposed is 140 microns with power of 250mW so that the resin is hardened appropriately as mentioned in the image. The touch screen user interface simplifies your task of controlling the printer. With form 2 printer you have your resin tank, build platform, and kit including finishing tray, scraper, pre and post-rinse tubs, rinse basket, squeeze bottle, flush cutters, tweezers, disposable nitrile gloves, PEC*PAD wipes, ,microfiber cloth, removal tool and removal jig.

The preform software allows you to scale, orient and create or edit the each model design. Your file will be uploaded to the printer. You can start your print job through the touchscreen interface, and can also check any queued prints and start previous print. Once the print option is hit, you can view the estimated time to print and during process you can see the remaining time too. The resin tank will be automatically filled based on the model that is been in print job. Once your remove the model after printing by removing the build platform, wash it and do any changes needed, and now your print is ready to use or display.

Filament and Connectivity

In general, SLA printers do not use filaments it uses resins that is hardened by exposure of laser light. You are not restricted to use resins manufactured by form labs, you are free to use any type of resin that matches the quality of form labs resin. To create appropriate model, it is better to go with form labs resin since the model will resemble like a real object with accurate image details, instead of a simple prototype. The connectivity options you have cope with modern technology i.e. you are offered with Wi-Fi option so that you can send your prints without the need for wired connection. But if you wish to have it, you also have Ethernet and USB option.
